Ajay's look in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai inspired by Amitabh Bachchan's in Deewar

Balaji and Milan Luthria’s Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai promises to be a super-entertaining rewind to the era of romance, smuggling, cabaret and the mafia.

The film set in the 1970’s sees lead actor Ajay Devgn who plays a character much inspired by the infamous Haji Mastan don a purely  white ensemble throughout the film inspiration of which came from Amitabh Bachchan ‘s iconic look in Deewar.

Confirms director Milan LuthriaI happened to see Deewaar and loved Amitji’s all-white look when he goes for his father’s funeral in the film. I realized that the look would work for Ajay as he looks good in white. Ajay wears white throughout the film. It gives him a different identity.”

The team had to go through a grueling 37 costume changes that reflected the classic style of the 1970’s before settling on the “all white” look for Ajay.

Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai releasing 30th July 2010 follows the rise of Sultan(Ajay Devgn), and the conflict, when his protégé Shoaib(Emraan Hashmi), challenges his supremacy, and usurps power to rule the murky underbelly of Mumbai.
