Balaji ropes in renowned columnist /author Shobhaa De for Once upon a Time in Mumbaai

Balaji’s Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai brings together a dynamic duo –one a renowned columnist/author and another -the Czarina of Indian television. For the first time ever Ekta Kapoor and Shobhaa De join forces for Balaji & Milan Luthria’s Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai.

Seen through the eyes of a police officer, ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai’ traces the changing face of the Mumbai underworld. The film, set primarily in 1970 Mumbai, follows the rise of Sultan (Ajay Devgan), and his eventual fall, when his protégé Shoaib (Emraan Hashmi), challenges his supremacy, and usurps power to rule the murky underbelly of Mumbai.

Shobhaa De known for her keen insight and understanding of urban culture was roped in by Balaji as a social media consultant for the film. Inside sources also claim that Balaji was looking for someone who would ensure that the context of the film would be contemporary and appeal to audiences alike- Shobhaa’s lucidity of thought and ideas and her dedicated scrutiny of society in the 70’s made her the perfect fit.

Talking about having the celebrated author on board says Ekta Kapoor “I am looking forward to some exciting and hitherto unknown facts to emerge from her association”

Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai a showcase of all that was iconic in the 70’s promises to be a super-entertaining rewind to the era of romance, smuggling, cabaret and the mafia.

“This new involvement promises to be as exciting as the Sensational Seventies. I’m looking forward to being a part of Ekta’s nostalgia” remarks Shobhaa De.
